Give to work you can see

A building brought back into use. A language class that leads to a job. Support for Fundação Lakhani goes into projects with names, places and dates.

Where your support goes

Our work is organised across four programme areas, all pursued within the Foundation’s statutory purposes and reported on annually.

Cultural heritage

The restoration of the Colégio de São Fiel in Castelo Branco, and the conservation work around it.

Digital & civic inclusion

Digital skills for people who are shut out of services because the forms are online and the help is not.

Culture & arts

Patronage for artistic production, and cultural exchange between Portugal and South Asia.

Education & leadership

Portuguese language and vocational training, delivered with certified partners.

Other ways to help

Money is not the only thing a young foundation needs.

Corporate partnership

Support our cultural restoration and educational initiatives through corporate donations and institutional patronage under the Portuguese Tax Benefits Statute. (Commercial sponsorships involving promotional advertising are formalised via separate contracts).

Professional expertise

Conservation, architecture, teaching, translation, law, accounting — skilled time given well is worth a great deal to us.

In-kind support

Materials, equipment, classroom space or venues for community events. Tell us what you have and we will tell you honestly whether we can use it.

Introductions

A word to the right municipality, school, employer or funder often moves further than a cheque.

Accountability

How we look after what you give

We are a young foundation, and we would rather be judged on how openly we account for our work than on how loudly we describe it.

Questions before you give

Fundação Lakhani, a private-law foundation established by notarial deed in Lisbon on 27 July 2023 and recognised by the Portuguese State in the Diário da República on 10 February 2026. We operate publicly under the name TLG Foundation. Our registered office is in Oeiras.

Fundação Lakhani does not represent that donations made through this page automatically qualify for tax benefits in Portugal.

Eligibility depends on the donor, the nature and purpose of the donation and the legal and tax status of the relevant activity or project under the Portuguese Tax Benefits Statute (Estatuto dos Benefícios Fiscais). The Foundation’s application for public utility status is currently pending.

Certain cultural activities or projects may also qualify under the Portuguese cultural patronage regime (mecenato cultural, pursuant to Decree-Law no. 167/2026) where the applicable statutory requirements and recognition procedures have been satisfied.

Donors should not claim a tax deduction solely on the basis of information provided on this website and should obtain independent tax advice where appropriate. Where a donation qualifies under an applicable patronage regime, the Foundation will provide the documentation required by law.

Because the Foundation’s payment infrastructure is still being set up, and we are not willing to put a payment form on this page before it is properly in place. Bank transfer works today and we will send you the details as soon as you get in touch.

Yes. If you designate your donation for a specific initiative (such as the Colégio de São Fiel restoration), your gift will be allocated to that project in accordance with Article 963 of the Portuguese Civil Code.

If an earmarked project is completed, overfunded, cancelled, or cannot proceed, the Foundation will contact you to obtain authorization to reallocate the funds to a statutorily equivalent purpose or process a refund.

You may choose not to have your name published in any public report or donor recognition list. The Foundation may nevertheless need to collect and retain identification or tax information where required for accounting, tax, legal, or compliance purposes.

Any public recognition is entirely optional and requires your explicit written consent.

Yes. We receive international transfers and will send you the IBAN and BIC/SWIFT details you need. Bear in mind that your bank may apply its own transfer fees.

A member of our team replies personally — usually within two working days. We confirm receipt of your transfer and issue an official written confirmation of donation.

Where a donation qualifies under an applicable patronage regime, the formal documentation required by the Tax Benefits Statute will be provided.

We would like that. Site visits to the Colégio de São Fiel are being planned as restoration progresses — say so when you write and we will let you know when dates are set.

Donations made to Fundação Lakhani are voluntary and gratuitous (under Article 940 of the Portuguese Civil Code). Key principles of our donation policy include:

  • Earmarked Gifts: Donations designated for specific projects are strictly restricted to those purposes. If a project cannot proceed, is cancelled, or is fully funded, donors will be consulted for reallocation or a refund.
  • Traceability & Compliance: For transfers exceeding €200, payments must be traceable (bank transfer) and comply with Portuguese anti-money laundering and tax reporting obligations.
  • Refusal Right: The Foundation reserves the right to decline or return contributions that conflict with its statutory purposes, ethics guidelines, or applicable legislation.
